This is my second Garmin. I purchased this model for the speech recognition feature. I works fairly well but does take a little getting used to. I really like the larger screen. I moved up from a C320 which until recently had been a very reliable unit. My biggest complaint about the 855 is the volume level. Even at 100% I can barely hear it when I'm on the freeway. I tried using the FM mode for speech through my radio but there was too much static to make that feasible. My old C320 had a greater volume range than this 855 and was never a problem producing a listening level. I contacted Garmin about the problem and the only thing they could suggest to me is to plug in auxiliary speakers.
